JOSEPH ABATE, M.D.

Educational Background:
Dr. Abate graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine. He had a residency in general surgery at Boston City Hospital and orthopedic surgery at the Boston V.A. Hospital (Tufts).
Board Certification and Focus:
Dr. Abate is board certified by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and is the founding physician of N.S.O.A.

MARK M. BERENSON, M.D

Educational Background:
Dr. Berenson graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine. He had a residency in general surgery at Boston City Hospital and orthopedic surgery at New England Medical Center (Tufts).
Board Certification and Focus:
Dr. Berenson is board certified by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery. His interests are in total joint replacement and arthroscopic surgery.

ROBERT A. HARNEY, M.D.

Educational Background:
Dr. Harney graduated from the University of Massachusetts and the University of Guadalajara School of Medicine. His internship and residency in Orthopedic Surgery were completed through the Boston University Affiliated Hospitals. He was Chief Resident at the Boston Medical Center, the Lahey Clinic and the Shriners Hospital for Children.
Board Certification and Focus:
Dr. Harney is Board Certified by the American Academy of Sports Physicians. He is the Team Physician for Melrose and Winthrop high schools, where he is a member of The Sports Hall of Fame. Dr. Harney is also a member of the Hallmark Health Bone & Joint Program at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital, which has been named the official healthcare partner of the Boston Bruins.
Over the years, Dr. Harney has treated amateur, professional, Olympic and Paralympic athletes. He was named to the International Olympic/Paralympic medical technical teams in Nagano, Sydney, Salt Lake City, Athens, Torino, Beijing and Vancouver.
Dr. Harney is internationally recognized in the field of paralympic sports and he sits on the Board of The New England Spinal Cord Center and New England Disabled Sports. He is the National Vice President of Disabled Sports USA, a member of the US Olympic Committee. He is a Medical Technical consultant for the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale), the governing body for pro cycling, para cycling and the Tour de France.
Dr. Harney’s hobbies include cycling, golf and skiing. He is a professional Alpine Ski Instructor at Loon Mountain, New Hampshire.

JOHN J. LYNCH, M.D

Educational Background:
Dr. Lynch graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He had a residency in general surgery at Boston City Hospital and orthopedic surgery at Boston University Medical Center, including training in joint replacement surgery, and pediatric orthopedics at Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children (Springfield, MA).

Dr. Lynch is board certified by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery.

RICHARD M. O'KEEFFE, JR., M.D

Educational Background:
After graduating from Dartmouth College, Dr. O’Keeffe received his M.D. degree from Columbia University in New York City. He then completed Orthopaedic Residency at The University of Connecticut. Following this, he performed a one year fellowship in Orthopaedic Traumatology at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
Board Certification and Focus:
Dr. O'Keeffe is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, is a fellow of The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and is a member of many professional societies. His special interests include Sports Medicine, and knee and shoulder arthroscopy.
